In court, it was revealed that Nygard exploited his influence and standing to entice women into a private bedroom suite connected to his corporate headquarters, where he subjected them to sexual assault. According to prosecutors, Nygard encountered these women in social contexts, inviting them to his Toronto-based clothing empire’s headquarters.

Every purported “tour” concluded in his bedroom suite, equipped with a bed, televisions, and a jacuzzi. Prosecutors highlighted that the doors lacked handles, and Nygard had control over the locks. In late 2020, Canadian authorities arrested Nygard at the request of the US, alleging that since 1995, he had utilized his businesses to entice women and girls in the US, Canada, and the Bahamas for sexual gratification for himself and associates.
Toronto police filed additional charges approximately a year later. Nygard is also confronted with sexual assault and forcible confinement charges in Manitoba and Quebec. He is currently resisting extradition to the US, where he faces multiple charges in New York, including conspiracy to commit racketeering, transportation of a minor for the purpose of prostitution, and sex trafficking through force, fraud, or coercion, as reported by CBC News.
