Ebay Expands Into NFT and Web3 Space With New Job Openings – Ebay is seeking to fill multiple NFT and Web3 positions according to job postings on LinkedIn. This comes after the company’s acquisition of NFT marketplace Knownorigin and filing for trademark applications for NFT and metaverse services. The new job openings include positions such as “crypto counsel,” “head of community” for Knownorigin, and “marketing campaign executive” for Knownorigin.
Within the past 24 hours, 17 applicants have applied for the Crypto Attorney role, 31 for the Head of Community position, and 37 for the Marketing role. The Crypto Attorney’s responsibilities include offering legal guidance and assistance on NFTs, blockchain, and Web3 topics, remaining informed on regulatory changes and working closely with Ebay’s internal teams.
The executive in charge of Knownorigin’s marketing efforts needs to boost recognition and possess a deep comprehension of the Web3 ecosystem, echoing the words of Ebay CEO Jamie Iannone from Feb 2022 on NFTs. “Ebay will be the place where people trade goods, whether they be physical or digital,” Iannone said at the time. Ebay’s job postings follow Amazon’s recent Linkedin job offer, which states that the online marketplace is looking specifically for a Senior Web3 GTM Specialist.
Approximately 41 individuals applied for Amazon’s Web3 GTM Specialist role, which entails the responsibility of increasing usage of Web3 workloads on AWS. On February 2, BNY Mellon, a financial institution, appointed Caroline Butler as its CEO of digital assets, demonstrating its commitment to the digital assets space. These job openings and executive appointments indicate that despite the significant layoffs experienced in the crypto industry, major corporations are still actively seeking personnel to oversee their crypto and blockchain operations.
