Jill Biden Forced to Apologize After Saying Latinos Unique as ‘Breakfast Tacos’

Jill Biden Forced to Apologize After Saying Latinos Unique as ‘Breakfast Tacos’ – Jill Biden, the first lady of the United States, apologized after her attempt to compliment Latinos on Monday when she compared them to “breakfast tacos” in response to criticism from all sides of the political spectrum.

According to her spokesperson Michael LaRosa, “the First Lady apologizes that her words conveyed anything but pure admiration and love for the Latino community.”

Jill Biden and her speech writers, according to the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, need to “better comprehend the complexities of our people,” they said on Monday night. After making the odd comparison during remarks at a conference of UnidosUS, formerly the National Council of La Raza, on Monday, the first lady sparked outrage.

Jill Biden praised Raul Yzaguirre, who served as La Raza’s president and CEO for three decades, saying that he “helped build this organization with the understanding that the diversity of this community — as distinct as the bodegas of the Bronx, as beautiful as the blossoms of Miami, and as unique as the breakfast tacos here in San Antonio — is your strength.”

The group claimed that the attempt to highlight the distinctiveness of Latinos in San Antonio by using breakfast tacos “demonstrates a lack of cultural knowledge and sensitivity to the diversity of Latinos in the region.” “NAHJ urges Dr. Biden and her speech writing team will take the time going forward to better grasp the complexity of our people and communities,” the statement reads. “We should not reduce our legacy as Latinos to a stereotype because it is molded by many different diasporas, cultures, and food traditions.”

The first lady and Democrats were slammed on Twitter by newly elected Rep. Mayra Flores (R-Texas), who wrote: “They just don’t get it. Latinos aren’t buying their liberal pandering; we care about the rising costs of housing, food, gas, issues that impact everyday Americans. No matter how loud they yell their made up words, it won’t change the reality of their failed policies.”
