Manchester United Quietly Fuming Over Cristiano Ronaldo’s Bombshell Interview – ESPN.com stated that the club is upset with Cristiano Ronaldo after the soccer legend delivered a scathing interview on “Piers Morgan Uncensored.” Manchester United disagreed with several of Ronaldo’s arguments and were frustrated by his timing. The interview is scheduled to air this week on Britain’s TalkTV, but advance clips were published late Sunday – only hours after United’s 2-1 victory over Fulham in their final match before the World Cup.
Ronaldo was left out of the squad for the second consecutive match due to an unidentified illness, but his latest words may boost rumors that he has played his last game for the club. Man United is presently fifth in the EPL standings with an 8-4-2 record. Ronaldo singled out manager Erik ten Hag, claiming that he feels “betrayed” by the club and that senior individuals have attempted to force him out of Old Trafford. United issued a statement that stated, in part, “the club will consider its response after the full facts have been established.”
A source told ESPN that ten Hag will handle the situation with the striker. When asked on “Piers Morgan Uncensored” whether United’s hierarchy was attempting to force him out of the club, Ronaldo responded, “Yes, not only the coach, but another two or three guys around the club. I felt betrayed.” When quizzed again if senior club executives were trying to oust him, the 37-year-old Portugal star said: “I don’t care.”
“People must pay attention to the truth.” “Yes, I felt betrayed and I felt like some people don’t want me here, not only this year but last year too,” Ronaldo said, adding that he attempted to find a new playing home during the most recent transfer window. Ronaldo has been in and out of United’s starting lineup this season and declined to enter last month’s victory over Tottenham as a substitute. This resulted in his exclusion from the squad for the subsequent trip to Chelsea, but he was later reinstated.
Ronaldo further inflamed his relationship with ten Hag by stating, “I don’t have respect for him because he doesn’t show respect for me. If you don’t have respect for me, I’m never going to have respect for you.” Ronaldo also claimed United had not progressed as a club since the departure of manager Alex Ferguson in 2013, and criticized the hiring of Ralf Rangnick as interim manager last season after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was fired. “This guy is not even a coach,” Ronaldo said of Rangnick. “A bigger club like Manchester United brings (a) sports director — surprised not only me but all the world, you know.”
