Meta is Expanding its Verification Program to Businesses – Today, Meta has unveiled its expansion of Meta Verified, initially introduced for creators in March, to now encompass businesses. The company’s initial testing of this verification program is underway on Facebook and Instagram, targeting select geographic regions. Furthermore, Meta plans to extend this program to businesses on WhatsApp in the future.
Businesses have the option to subscribe to Meta Verified, with pricing set at $21.99 per month per Facebook page or Instagram account, or they can opt for both at $34.99 per month. However, Meta has not disclosed the pricing for WhatsApp verification.Similar to the verification process for creators, Meta Verified for Businesses offers several advantages, including a verification badge, enhanced visibility, and protection against impersonation.
It’s worth noting that the same badge is provided to businesses as it is for creators, with no distinct differentiation mentioned by Meta. The specifics regarding impersonation protection at this tier have not been specified. Meta is enhancing the reach of verified businesses in two key ways: by providing better placement in search results and recommending them to users in their feeds.
Paid business users can anticipate their accounts appearing prominently in search results, and they will also feature in a new feed carousel labeled “Recommended Meta Verified Businesses.” The company led by Mark Zuckerberg has additionally stated that businesses interested in purchasing subscriptions must meet certain eligibility criteria, such as undergoing verification through phone, email, or domain name, and maintaining a minimum level of activity on their pages or Instagram accounts.
However, Meta has not provided specific details regarding these requirements, mentioning that they will share more information as the rollout progresses. Furthermore, Meta is in the process of developing a verification program for businesses on WhatsApp. While testing for verification on the chat app is set to commence in the future, the company has disclosed some details regarding its features.
The paid tier will offer businesses the capability to create a customized WhatsApp-based web page that is searchable. Verification will also grant access to multi-device support for up to 10 devices for business accounts, simplifying the management of customer queries and orders by multiple individuals, as conveyed by the company to a news outlet. WhatsApp already provides these features to businesses through WhatsApp Premium, which underwent testing with select businesses in limited regions last year.
Meta has stated its intention to expand the feature set for WhatsApp verification upon its launch. Additionally, Meta plans to outline its roadmap for existing WhatsApp Premium customers around the time of the launch. The rollout of Meta Verified for Business will commence in specific markets within the next few weeks. However, there is currently no specified release date for verification availability to businesses on WhatsApp. Meta initially priced its individual verification subscription higher than X’s (formerly Twitter) $8 per month paid subscription when it launched earlier this year.

In contrast, X’s business verification offering carries a base subscription cost of $1,000 per month, with an additional $50 per month for each affiliated account. This positioning makes Meta Verified a more financially feasible choice for smaller organizations. Furthermore, The Information reported on Tuesday that some individual subscribers to the Meta Verified plan expressed dissatisfaction, as they were unable to access the human support promised with the plan.
