Rex Orange County Charged With Six Counts of Sexual Assault – According to The Sun, English pop artist Rex Orange County has been charged with six charges of sexual assault arising from an alleged incident with a lady in London in June. The 24-year-old, real name Alexander O’Connor, appeared in court in London on Monday and denied the claims. O’Connor was released on unconditional bail after pleading not guilty to all six allegations. The singer’s provisional trial date has been set for January 3, 2023.

O’Connor is accused of assaulting the woman twice on June 1 in London’s West End, and then four times the following day – once in a taxi and three times at his home in Notting Hill. In a statement issued by O’Connor’s representative, the indie rocker denied the charges and stated that he “looks forward to clearing his name in court.”

“Alex is shocked by the allegations which he denies and looks forward to clearing his name in court,” the statement reads. “He is unable to make any further comment because of the ongoing proceedings.” O’Connor first came to fame with his 2017 hits “Best Friend” and “Love Is Easy.” That same year, he was featured on two songs on Tyler, the Creator’s album, Flower Boy. He also dropped a mixtape and three studio albums, the latest of which titled, Who Cares?, was released in March.

In July 2022, O’Connor announced that he was cancelling his upcoming tour dates in Australia, New Zealand and Europe owing to “unforeseen personal circumstances” that meant he was “having to spend some time at home this year” and would “not be able to continue with touring as planned”. “This is the last thing I want to do,” he wrote. “I love touring and I am so sorry to be letting anyone down. I look forward to getting back to it as soon as I can.”

O’Connor went to the Brit school and self-released his debut album, Bcos U Will Never Be Free, in 2015. It became a grassroots hit, piquing the interest of Tyler, the Creator, a US rapper, who invited O’Connor to work on his 2017 album, Flower Boy.
