Romanian Prosecutors Pursue Confiscation of $563K Bitcoin Stash Owned by Andrew Tate – The Romanian prosecutors have taken the official step of submitting legal documents to the court, requesting the confiscation of 21 bitcoins worth $563,000 from Andrew Tate, a controversial figure in social media. Andrew Tate, a British-American former kickboxer, has gained significant online influence but was charged with serious crimes of human trafficking and rape on December 29, 2022. 

Despite the charges, Tate strongly denies all allegations made against him and his associates. In a press release dated June 20, 2023, the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism in Romania announced that Andrew Tate, along with three co-defendants, has formally been accused and indicted.

Andrew Tate, a former world kickboxing champion, gained notoriety as a divisive figure and achieved significant influence as a social media influencer on platforms like Twitter and TikTok.In December 2022, Tate became embroiled in a high-profile legal case when he was apprehended as a suspect in a complex matter involving human trafficking and rape. The charges against him also included the allegation of leading an organized crime group. 

On April 3, 2023, Andrew Tate and his associates were released from custody but placed under house arrest. Currently, Romanian prosecutors have officially pressed charges against Tate, accusing him of participating in the crimes of establishing an organized criminal group and engaging in human trafficking.

According to the allegations, Tate and his accomplices are accused of deceitfully enticing women into the sex trade, operating not only within Romania but also extending their activities to other countries. The prosecutors are now seeking the court’s approval to seize Andrew Tate’s collection of bitcoin (BTC), which is estimated to be approximately 21.080 BTC, with a value of slightly over $563,000 based on current exchange rates.

Furthermore, law enforcement’s objective is not only to confiscate a significant amount of luxury cars and watches, but also to seize four of Tate’s operating companies and multiple stashes of cash containing U.S. dollars, European euros, and British pounds.

Additionally, the prosecutors have made a request for Tate and his enterprise to make an upfront contribution towards covering a portion of the legal costs. As part of the ongoing legal process in the Bucharest court, the prosecutors strongly recommend that Tate and his associates be placed under house arrest.
