‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Named Best Film of 2022 by National Board of Review – The National Board of Review, a non-profit organization consisting of New York City cinema enthusiasts, filmmakers, professionals, academics, and students, has announced their 2022 award honorees. Among them was the Best Film of the Year winner, Top Gun: Maverick. National Board of Review members from New York City viewed 269 films and voted on categories such as Best Picture, Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor and Actress, Best Original and Adapted Screenplay, Breakthrough Performance, and Best Directorial Debut.
On January 8, 2023, the National Board of Review Awards Gala will commemorate Top Gun: Maverick alongside award winners Colin Farrell for Best Actor in The Banshees of Inisherin, Michelle Yeoh for Everything Everywhere All at Once, and Steven Spielberg for Best Director in The Fabelmans. Annie Schulhof, president of the National Board of Review, explained why Top Gun: Maverick won the award for Best Film: “Top Gun: Maverick is a thrilling crowd-pleaser that is expertly crafted on every level.”
