Jamiroquai to Bring Virtual Insanity to The Sandbox Blockchain Metaverse – Another well-known music act is joining the virtual world The Sandbox, as Animoca Brands’ subsidiary announced on Wednesday that Jamiroquai has become a project partner. Jay Kay is the frontman of Jamiroquai, an award-winning band which plays funk, acid jazz, soul, disco, and R&B.
Virtual Insanity was selected MTV’s Video of the Year in 1997, and Jamiroquai is known for hit songs including “Virtual Insanity” and “Canned Heat.” Jamiroquai won a Grammy Award for the song the following year. On May 18, 2022, The Sandbox and Jamiroquai will commemorate their collaboration with Jamiroquai x Sandbox merchandise.

The merchandise will consist of a limited edition t-shirt and keychain, which would be sold only on store.jamiroquai.com. The blockchain-based metaverse startup said on Wednesday that the strategic relationship was formed in collaboration with Bravado, Universal Music Group’s industry-leading brand management division.
The announcement adds:
“In The Sandbox, the famed jazz-funk band will deliver virtual insanity to their virtual land.”
Since its inception, The Sandbox has collaborated with a wide range of artists, musicians, celebrities, and well-known brands. The Smurfs, Atari, Care Bears, Ubisoft, BLOND:ISH, The Rabbids, Gucci Vault, Deadmau5, The Walking Dead, Snoop Dogg, and Adidas are among The Sandbox’s more than 200 partners. Jamiroquai said in a statement that the band has always been interested in future concepts.
“Creating a land in which everyone can come together in The Sandbox with a bit of funk, freedom, and fashion would provide a communal spot to digitally connect with our fans and fellow music lovers,” Jamiroquai said.
More information regarding the collaboration with Jamiroquai would be “released in the coming months,” according to the announcement. The Sandbox has been a popular blockchain-based virtual environment, alongside its counterpart Decentraland. Both projects’ native crypto tokens, however, have recently taken a hit.
SAND, a Sandbox crypto asset, has gained 236 percent year-to-date, but has lost 53 percent in the previous 30 days. Following the Bored Ape Yacht Club’s Otherdeed sale, NFT and virtual land purchases have also dropped in the last two weeks.
