Meta’s Horizon Worlds Metaverse App Still Too Buggy to Be Used According to Company Executives – Meta’s metaverse push is in trouble, with executives now criticizing Horizon Worlds and the state of the platform’s flagship metaverse app. According to the Verge, Vishal Shah, Meta’s VP of Metaverse, made reference to the platform’s quality issues.
The executive acknowledged Horizon Worlds’ current state and proposed a “quality lockdown phase” that would last until the end of the current year. The goal of this action, according to Shah, is to “ensure that we fix our quality gaps and performance issues before we open up Horizon to more users.”

Horizon Worlds is an app designed to appeal to users who are currently purchasing the Meta Quest brand of VR headsets, which are the only way to experience these worlds at the time of writing. The company hinted at the launch of the platform for web environments but has not provided any additional information.
According to Mark Zuckerberg, the concept of the metaverse and its future significance are critical to the company’s growth. Meta reported a $2.8 billion loss in July due to the poor performance of its metaverse division, Reality Labs. Shah believes that this concept is strong and significant. He stated in the memo: “Since launching late last year, we have seen that the core thesis of Horizon Worlds — a synchronous social network where creators can build engaging worlds — is strong.”
However, as of the date of this memo, September 15, employees of the company were actively avoiding spending time on the platform. The situation was confirmed in a follow-up memo sent on September 30, with Shah hinting at the establishment of quotas for employees to access Horizon Worlds.
