Football Fan who Died After Escalator Fall at Steelers-Jets Game Identified – The football fan who died after falling during Sunday’s Steelers-Jets game has been identified. At 4:45 p.m. in Pittsburgh, Dalton Keane, 27, fell from an escalator inside the Acrisure Stadium, according to police. Shortly after New York defeated the home team 24-20, the deadly incident occurred.
The Allegheny County medical examiner’s office told The Post Monday morning that Keane was the person who died. Officials say the victim lived in Monaca, Pennsylvania, which is a small town in Beaver County 25 miles northwest of Pittsburgh. Police said that paramedics helped Keane at the scene and then rushed him to a nearby hospital where his condition was very bad.

The medical examiner said that he was pronounced dead at 5:10 p.m., 25 minutes after he fell. When The Post called, a close relative of Keane said he didn’t know what caused him to fall and was on his way to the morgue. “We are aware of an unfortunate incident that occurred inside Acrisure Stadium today,” Steelers spokesman Burt Lauten said in a statement. “We are working with local authorities and helping their investigation into the matter. We are sending our thoughts and prayers to the guest’s family.”
The incident is being looked into, and it was the latest tragedy involving escalators and football fans at an NFL stadium. In July, a man fell off an escalator rail at The Weekend’s concert at the Eagles’ Lincoln Financial Field. Later that month, after a Kenny Chesney concert at Empower Field at Mile High Stadium in Denver, a woman fell to her death from an escalator.

Last year, a moving staircase at a train station in Massachusetts broke down after a Patriots game at Gillette Stadium. This sent nine people to the hospital. Video showed that the escalator seemed to turn around and send a group of people backwards. In 2007, eight people were hurt at Giants Stadium when the bottom steps of a crowded escalator fell inward.
