Albany TV Anchor Heather Kovar Suspended After Slurring Through Broadcast – Heather Kovar, an Albany TV news anchor, stunned viewers over the weekend when she slurred her words and appeared disorganized during an evening broadcast. The station informed The Post on Sunday that she has been suspended from duty.
“And so, moving on tonight, is we have to tell you also, you know, like other news that’s happening in the area, and across the area, in the nation,” Kovar said at one point while attempting to switch between segments.

As she spoke about the Oklahoma natural gas plant explosion, she started to stumble over her words. During the report, she abruptly shifted the subject and oddly exclaimed, “Well, hello! Good afternoon!
“Like, I was telling you this morning, if you watched us this morning starting at 6 a.m., 7 a.m., I told you, you know what? Today, what a beautiful day outside! It is just amazing. And so, a great time for outdoor music.”
She was clearly experiencing some technical difficulties throughout the segment as she was occasionally spotted grasping a wire. In the end, she was interrupted mid-sentence. The Post was unable to get in touch with the news anchor on Sunday. She was suspended, according to the station, pending additional investigation.
Kovar had tweeted on Saturday that she would return to the air on Sunday morning, but she did not do so. Instead, Emma Quinn took her place, and she did not respond to a request for comment.

According to the Times Union of Albany, Kovar recently came back after a leave of absence during which she was caring for her father before his passing. The station “has graciously enabled me to take some time off to be with my family in Texas,” she stated in a May Facebook post. Her social media accounts indicated that he passed away in that month.
