Chelsea Agree £32.7m Fee For Monaco Centre-Back Benoît Badiashile – Chelsea is close to signing Benoît Badiashile from Monaco for €37m (£32.7m). After reaching an agreement on a fee, Badiashile will undergo a medical examination. The 21-year-old Frenchman is a left-sided centre-back who will provide more options for Graham Potter. Since the losses of Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rüdiger, the west London club has sought to bolster its central defense.
Personal conditions were agreed upon with Croatian defender Josko Gvardiol last summer, but Chelsea were unable to reach RB Leipzig’s asking price. Gvardiol starred during the World Cup, propelling Croatia to a third-place finish, and will garner much attention this summer.

Badiashile is the more affordable option. He has competed for France at the senior level and is strong and quick. Potter’s other central defenders are Thiago Silva, Kalidou Koulibaly, Trevoh Chalobah, and the injured Wesley Fofana.
Chelsea, who are confident of extending N’Golo Kanté’s contract, are looking to be aggressive in January as they attempt to kickstart their top-four challenge. They are trying to boost their midfield by signing Enzo Fernández from Benfica and are also interested in the Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister.
In attack they could rival Arsenal for the Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhailo Mudryk. The Blues have already agreed to sign the striker David Datro Fofana from the Norwegian side Molde and are expected to confirm the arrival of Andrey Santos from Vasco da Gama.
