Elon Musk Reveals Dogecoin Will Be Accepted at Tesla’s New Futuristic Diner – Elon Musk has disclosed that the meme cryptocurrency dogecoin will be accepted at Tesla’s upcoming futuristic diner and drive-in theater in the Hollywood area. On its website, the electric car company currently accepts DOGE for some merchandise.
Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, tweeted on Friday regarding future dogecoin payment acceptance in response to a tweet from developer Ryan Zohoury, who claimed that a new Tesla supercharger station in Santa Monica, California, was almost full 10 minutes after it opened.
“And futuristic diner / drive-in theater planned for Hollywood area,” Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted. In a follow-up tweet, he added:
“You can, of course, pay in Doge.”
At the time of publication, the Tesla CEO has not specified what the meme cryptocurrency can be used to pay for. Some speculate that Tesla supercharger stations will accept dogecoin, while others view Musk’s post as referring specifically to the forthcoming Hollywood diner and drive-in theater.
Nonetheless, supporters of Dogecoin applaud Musk’s effort to expand the meme cryptocurrency’s popularity.
However, this news has had little impact on the price of dogecoin. According to statistics, DOGE was trading at $0.1417 at the time of Musk’s post. While the price eventually rose to $0.1450, it has now fallen to $0.1411 at the time of writing.
Tesla began taking dogecoin for some products in January. Musk then offered to eat a Happy Meal on television in order to persuade McDonald’s to accept DOGE. “Only if Tesla accepts grimacecoin,” the well-known fast-food chain said.
Musk, a longtime supporter of Dogecoin, is referred to as the Dogefather in the crypto world. The Tesla CEO believes DOGE is the people’s cryptocurrency, and he previously stated that many of the people he spoke with at Tesla and SpaceX owned the cryptocurrency.
He believes that dogecoin is the best cryptocurrency for transactions, while bitcoin is better for storing wealth.
