Harvey Weinstein Hires Bill Cosby’s Lawyer for Los Angeles Appeal – After being found guilty and sentenced to 16 years in prison for sexual assault and rape, Harvey Weinstein has enlisted the services of Bill Cosby’s attorney to challenge his conviction in Los Angeles. Harvey Weinstein, who was revealed as a sexual predator in October 2017 following investigations by the New York Times and the New Yorker, has enlisted the services of Michael, after being found guilty of sexual assault and rape in Los Angeles.
This revelation led to the emergence of the #MeToo movement. Harvey Weinstein has appointed Freedman and Jennifer Bonjean as his primary legal representatives. Bonjean was successful in overturning Bill Cosby’s sexual assault conviction in Pennsylvania in 2021, based on a legal technicality. Cosby, who faced allegations of rape from over 60 women, was released from prison after serving two years of his 3-to-10 year sentence.

Jennifer Bonjean, who has a track record of representing high-profile individuals accused in the #MeToo movement, including R&B singer R Kelly, who was convicted on charges of sexual and child abuse in 2022, and Keith Raniere, the leader of the Nxivm sex cult, who received a 120-year prison sentence in October 2020, has been retained by Harvey Weinstein as his lead legal counsel.
On her law firm’s website, Bonjean is described as someone who “works tirelessly to reverse the convictions of innocent people wrongly incarcerated,” and she even has the phrase “not guilty” tattooed on her arm. Freedman and Bonjean have been appointed by Harvey Weinstein to represent him in a civil lawsuit filed against him by Evgeniya Chernyshova. Her testimony about rape and sexual assault by Weinstein in 2013 led to his conviction in Los Angeles.
Chernyshova filed the civil lawsuit after the trial, seeking compensation for physical and mental pain and suffering, loss of earnings, and cost of medical and psychological treatment resulting from the rape. The judge in Los Angeles ruled that Weinstein should serve his prison sentences consecutively, implying that he wouldn’t be released until 2059, at the age of 107. Weinstein is also appealing his 2020 sexual assault conviction in New York and is currently serving his sentence at Mohawk Correctional Facility, a medium-security prison for men in Rome, New York.
