Metamask Users Complain About Connection Issues as Wallet’s Default Endpoint Suffers From Major Outage – Users of the Web3 wallet Metamask reported service interruptions on Friday when Infura, Metamask’s default endpoint, had a “severe outage.” The wallet company responded to the matter, explaining that the issues were caused by Infura’s downtime.
Metamask, one of the most popular Web3 cryptocurrency wallets, faced issues after the software’s default endpoint went down. On April 22, 2022, Infura’s status web page reported a serious outage affecting ten components of the service.
On Infura’s status page, it’s also noted that five of the service’s components are down for the time being. “If you’re now experiencing troubles with Metamask, it may be because of the outage that Infura is actively addressing,” Metamask’s official Twitter page noted.
There have been numerous posts on social media platforms and Reddit forums asking if Metamask is down. Many others have criticized Metamask and Infura for the outage.
“It’s OK if Metamask wishes to utilize Infura by default,” one user said on Twitter on Friday, “but it should also allow users to auto-switch to a mix of verified backups (so as not to overwhelm any single one) in the case Infura goes down.”
Many other defi projects, firms, and marketplaces issued warnings in addition to Metamask and Infura’s service notices. “Infura is experiencing a massive outage, which is hurting Metamask users that use their RPC.” So, if you’re having problems with your wallet right now, that’s probably why,” Looksrare, an NFT marketplace, said.
Metamask Users Complain About Connection Issues as Wallet’s Default Endpoint Suffers From Major Outage – Following the outage, many people used various endpoint solutions to access their Web3 accounts. Infura’s status page states that the company’s systems are “functioning” at the time of writing.
