Socialite Scammer Anna Sorokin Wins Release From Jail, but Banned From all Social Media – Wednesday, an immigration judge said that fake German heiress Anna Sorokin has been released from prison but will be prohibited from all forms of social media. The 31-year-old con artist and subject of the Netflix show “Inventing Anna” has been granted release from the Orange County prison where she has been held for the past 17 months by ICE while fighting her deportation.
Her representative told Page Six that she is anticipated to be released tomorrow once she has secured a place to stay. According to the judge’s ruling, Sorokin, who for years deceived New York socialites by pretending to be a wealthy heiress called Anna Delvey, must stay under 24-hour house arrest with electronic monitoring in addition to posting $10,000 bail.

She is also barred from all social media networks, including Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram, where she has 1 million followers. Sorokin served four years in prison following her 2019 conviction on a number of state offenses related to her years-long scamming binge, during which she defrauded New York’s elite and skipped out on hotel and restaurant bills.
ICE authorities re-arrested her six years after she was released from prison for good conduct in 2021, and she has been imprisoned in an Orange County facility ever since. As she constituted a threat to the community, the administration contended that Sorokin should remain imprisoned. Her lawyer, Duncan Levin, released a statement expressing his gratitude for the court’s decision to release Sorokin.
The judge correctly determined that Anna poses no threat to the community. Anna is thrilled to be getting out of jail so she can focus on appealing her erroneous conviction, despite the fact that there are still a few criteria she must fulfill. In a letter published by The Daily Mail last month, Sorokin railed against the US immigration system, stating that her “imprisonment simply makes no sense.”

“The jail I’m housed at is famous for its understaffing issue. To help alleviate that issue, in the last few weeks alone, 61 immigrants were removed from this facility without notice and transferred to a facility in Mississippi, where ICE can detain them at a lesser cost,” she wrote in the lengthy letter. “In the Orange County, NY jail where I await my fate, female detainees are tossed in with the general criminal population, often without ever appearing before a judge,” she continued in the letter published by the Mail.
