South African Mobile Network Operator MTN Buys Land in the Metaverse – MTN, a South African mobile network operator, became one of the first companies to enter the metaverse when it paid an undisclosed fee for 144 plots of digital land in the virtual world.
MTN now controls 144 plots totaling 12 square meters, according to Mybroadband report.
MTN’s group executive for marketing, Bernice Samuels, is cited commending the company’s move to the metaverse and describing how it fits into its Ambition 2025 plan.
According to the executive,
“This is exactly what our Ambition 2025 plan is all about: leveraging trends that improve consumers’ digital experiences and engagement. We’ve always been at the forefront of technological and digital innovations, and we’re enthused about the possibilities the metaverse provides for us and our clients.”
