YouTube Seeks Web3 Director with Experience Trading Crypto – According to a job posting on LinkedIn, YouTube, Google’s online video sharing and social media network, is hiring a director to work with Web3 technology.
YouTube favors a candidate who is comfortable with “buying, owning, and trading cryptocurrencies, NFTs, and tokens.” While the firm demands 15 years of product management experience, it prefers a candidate who is experienced with “buying, owning, and trading cryptocurrencies, NFTs, and tokens.”
YouTube and its parent firm Alphabet (Google) have both expressed an interest in blockchain and Web3 technology. Alphabet (Google) revealed its plans last week, and the company’s subsidiary YouTube released a blog post describing how it intends to use non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
According to a blog post by YouTube’s chief product officer, Neal Mohan:
“For creators, Web3 provides up new possibilities. We believe that new technologies such as blockchain and NFTs can help creators form stronger bonds with their followers.”
YouTube advertised a job on LinkedIn this week for a Web3 director with a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a comparable technical profession. The job title is “Director, Product Management, YouTube Web3,” and the required qualifications are 15 years of product management expertise. In terms of YouTube’s preferences, the contender should have made use of blockchain technology.
“Understanding of cryptocurrencies, blockchain, consensus processes, NFTs, and other Web3 technologies,” as well as “experience buying, owning, and trading cryptocurrencies, NFTs, and tokens,” are among the qualifications.
In terms of responsibilities, the applicant must be able to:
Represent YouTube Web3 at senior-level meetings, external organizations, and industry events, as well as with industry partners and executive teams.
YouTube’s focus on Web3 comes at a time when the technology is attracting a lot of attention and funding. FTX Ventures announced a $2 billion venture capital fund to support Web3, the Near Foundation raised $150 million to expand Web3, and Animoca Brands secured $358 million to support Web3 and metaverse apps in mid-January.
While the director of Web3 product management at YouTube is based in San Bruno, California, salary information for the Web3 position at YouTube is not available. In the last four days, 23 people applied for the Web3 job at YouTube.
