Yuga Labs Launches Bored Ape and Mutant Ape Yacht Club Community Council – Yuga Labs stated on Wednesday that the company has assembled a seven-member community council to represent the entire BAYC and MAYC ecosystem. The community council will be allowed to suggest three community projects every month, and the BAYC and MAYC communities will then vote on which initiative will receive a grant from Yuga Labs.
Josh Ong, Sera, Laura Rod, 0xEthan, 0xWave, Negi, and Peter Fang are the seven newest members of the community council. The council will collaborate with Yuga and the BAYC/MAYC community to promote community-led activities such as commercial projects, meet-ups, charitable contributions, and other community-driven ideas, according to a statement from Yuga Labs.

According to Yuga Labs, the council members were selected based on their past contributions to community-led initiatives and development. The announcement comes after Yuga Labs released intellectual property (IP) rights to Cryptopunks and Meebits owners. The company had already granted BAYC/MAYC IP rights to the respective NFT collection owners. In addition, Yuga Labs has just published the Otherside metaverse whitepaper and created a new teaser trailer for the next project.
Regarding the independence of the two projects, Yuga Labs asserts that the newly formed community council will ensure the projects’ autonomy. “The BAYC/MAYC community is an autonomous bunch, and this council represents that — they’ll be bringing their various skill sets with ideas to the table, and we’ll work with them to make the best ideas reality,” the blog post published by Yuga Labs concludes.
