Singer Kris Wu Sentenced By Beijing Court To 13 Years On Rape Charges – A Chinese court in Beijing found Chinese-Canadian pop star Kris Wu, also known as Wu Yi Fan, guilty of sexual offenses, including rape, and sentenced him to 13 years in prison, according to a post on the court’s official Weibo account. Wu rose to prominence as a member of the popular Korean-Chinese pop group EXO, then as a solo artist following his departure from the group in 2014.
The Chaoyang District People’s Court in Beijing stated that between November 2020 and December 2020, the singer raped three women at his residence while they were unable to resist or did not know how; and in July 2018, he organized two women to engage in “promiscuous activities” while intoxicated at his residence, the court stated.

The court found Wu guilty of two charges, including rape and assembling a crowd for sexual activity, and sentenced him to 11.5 years and 22 months, respectively. According to the Weibo post, the court imposed a fixed sentence of thirteen years. The court stated that Wu will be deported after he completes his sentence.
Wu was formally arrested on suspicion of rape in August of last year, after he was initially detained by police in Beijing in July 2021 due to sexual assault allegations against him in what has become the most prominent #MeToo case in China. The Canadian embassy in China was represented at the sentencing, according to the court’s post.
