Manchester United Explore Legal Action as They Look to Force Ronaldo Exit – Manchester United have appointed lawyers to investigate potential legal action against Cristiano Ronaldo for suspected breach of contract following comments made by the forward in a recent interview, as the club attempts to expedite his departure. Ronaldo will almost definitely never play for United again, and it is believed the 37-year-old has been instructed not to return to the club’s Carrington training base following his World Cup involvement with Portugal.
With Ronaldo desiring to depart and United desiring to rid themselves of him, the question is how his exit will occur. United’s position is that he should not receive a payoff, and they want the process to be concluded as soon as possible. As Ronaldo’s status is uncertain, the club is keeping all possibilities open. United’s aim may be to hope that Ronaldo will offer to terminate his contract in response to the threat of legal action. In an interview with Piers Morgan on Talk TV, Ronaldo made a number of allegations.

These included the claims that he is being forced out of the club, that senior officials lacked empathy following the death of his newborn son in April, that the Glazer family does not care about the club, and that manager Erik ten Hag does not respect him. On Friday, a club release stated: “Manchester United has this morning initiated appropriate steps in response to Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent media interview. We will not be making further comments until this process reaches its conclusion.”
The contract of Ronaldo is worth approximately £500,000 a week and expires in July. United had no prior knowledge of Ronaldo’s interview, in which he expressed his desire to quit the club in the summer. The Portugal squad is scheduled to arrive in Doha on Friday at 11 p.m. local time, prior to the team’s first training session on Saturday afternoon. Ronaldo is currently in his second stint with Manchester United, following a six-year run in which he won three Premier Leagues, the FA Cup, two League Cups, the Champions League, and the Ballon d’Or.
His individual accomplishments made him a hero among United supporters and placed him among the club’s greatest players. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Ten Hag’s predecessor, hailed Ronaldo’s return in the summer of 2021 as a coup. Supporters celebrated his homecoming with elation.
However, by going public with his charges against United, Ronaldo has severely damaged this standing and status. This followed his walking out before the end of the July friendly with Rayo Vallecano and October’s 2-0 league win over Tottenham. Despite this, Ten Hag made Ronaldo captain for the league game at Aston Villa on 6 November, which United lost 3-1. It seems this will be his final appearance for the club.
