Twitch to Ban Unlicensed Gambling Websites From Streaming – Twitch is responding to growing concerns about gambling on its platform by changing its policy and significantly limiting who can stream gambling content. Twitch is an American live video streaming service that focuses on video game live streaming, including esports competition broadcasts, in addition to offering music broadcasts, creative content, as well as “in real life” streams.
Twitch mentions gambling as a major topic of discussion on the streaming platform in a Twitter update. Sharing links or referral codes to sites that offer slots, roulette, or dice games is already prohibited, but Twitch admits that “some people have circumvented those rules and exposed our community to potential harm.”

The rules will change on October 18. Twitch will no longer allow streams from gambling websites that offer slots, roulette, or dice games, but there is a key caveat. Such streams will not be permitted for sites that are not licensed in the United States or “other jurisdictions that provide adequate consumer protection.” So gambling website streams are not entirely prohibited, but rather restricted to licensed sites.
